My husband and I have this project for this weekend and I have printed all the instructions and diagrams posted by Gene, abadfish66, and ksisco, appreciate it thank you.
Our GE washer broke down 1.5 months ago (many trips to the laundromat), after only 14 months use, but we just had the money to buy the gasket less than $120 with shippment from appliance parts pros, great site, best delivery ever compared to any other web store, promised delivery in 2 days and wow, it was actually only 2 days to get the part. If you need to buy this part get it from this site, I did a little research on another site wich offers the same part at about 30 dlls less but they have the worst reputation and many ripp off complaints.

Hi everyone,
Project complete. Thank you again for this great post, we just saved $80 dlls on the installation. Washer is working great and so far so good. Hopefully it will take another year before we have to do this whole thing again. I believe the problem with the front load washers is that they are still pretty new in the market and this could be a design problem which GE is ignoring. The rubber material in the gasket looks of good quality, I am pretty sure the problem is with all the vibration and impacts during the normal wash cycle.

The part I am refering to is the front clamp with the spring on it. Where exactly does that seat back in to "hold" it onto the front of the machine

Thanks everyone...Just change my boot gasket in about one hour (30 minutes removing it on monday, 30 minutes installing the new one on Tuesday)...could not have done it w/o this forum!!!
