We have a frigidaire washer GLTF2940ES0. Just replaced the upper control panel. (question 1) how do you get the knob in line so the times match the cycle showing at the top? (question 2) because can't line up the knob, can't run a diagnostic. The message yesterday was E43. How do you know if the upper control panel was the one to replace? Maybe it was the lower control panel that was the problem?

Control panel and control board are very different parts. A lot of serious mistakes was done by people because of wrong part names. I'm assuming you were talking about the control board (#1 on the diagram). There is only one control board in this washer, which operates the washer. The second board (#4 on the diagram) controls the motor only and it's actually motor speed board.. "E43" error code means "Control board problem" and suggested correction is to replace the control board. Here is the Tech sheet.
