My washer makes a loud banging noise and moves all over during the spin cycle. I checked and all the springs are intact. Not sure how tight the belt should be, but it was very loose. Can someone help me?

A common cause of your symptoms is a broken or damaged snubber. It is an inexpensive part but requires some work to replace, including special tools. If you do, make sure you have the right tool and be very careful, you are working with 200lbs of pressure.

Here is a service manual if you wish to have a go at it.

I would go to my article "Maytag Performa snubber replacement" Crunch this in the search box. Will make the job easier without the expensive brake tool.
