Now that 'Magician59' has pointed me to the motor/control; I need to get the top off of this washer. It looks like it snaps/pops into something in front and hinges at the back but I don't want to force it. Is it held down with screws (I can't tell from the parts list)? I need to get access to the switch unit in the front above the door. When I try to get the top off, is there anything I need to watch out for (other dis-assemblies?) ? Before I lay out close to $200, I need to follow the troubleshooting form to ensure that the motor/control is failing.

This can all be done from the front and back of the machine: Open the door and remove the screws from the hinges and the plates across from the hinges. The door can be lifted out of place and set aside. The front panel can now be removed by unclipping at the top corners, and rocked forward, and off the bottom brackets. The access to the belt, and the motor retaining bolt is through the small panel in the rear of the machine.
