Washer washes fine, it is when it finishes washing, and is supposed to spin, it just sits there, the tube does not go into a spinning motion... If I raise the lid and lower it back down, it will start to spin... It does this anytime it proceeds to a spin cycle... The switch on the lid seems to be working ok, when it is washing or spinning and I raise the lid, the unit will stop... I have been told it is the timer by more dummies like myself... he he he... Wanted to get an opinion by someone that really knows about washers... I was ready to order the switch at $53.00, but thought I should get an opinion first... Thanks for any help... Respectfully,,, James

It probably is the timer. Your washer needs to stop, which causes the transmission to shift into spin mode. Your timer will create this pause. When you raise the lid you cause it to stop, and so it proceeds to finish.
Replacing the timer should fix things.
