It makes a loud clicking noise when stopping the spin cycle either at the end of the cycle or when the lid is opened. I suspected the brake was locked up. I took the cabinet, agitator and drum off. The splines look good on drive shaft but there are metal shavings on the piece below the shaft. It is supposed to mesh with the drum but hasn't which has caused the drum to wear it down. I guess it's part of the braking mechanism but I'm not sure. I'm not sure where to go from here. I guess I'll go ahead and try and get the tub off and the piece that is shaved off. Have you seen this problem before? The washer has not been used excessively or mistreated... Oh yeah, before I took it apart I could spin the drum by hand and it would click every so often trying to seat itself on the worn piece <IMG width=1 height=5> Advertisementgoogle_protectAndRun("ads_core.google_render_ad", google_handleError, google_render_ad);h1{font-size:13pt; font-weight:bold; font-family:verdana; color:#C00; margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px;} You are here: Experts > Home/Garden > Home Appliances > Major Appliances > whirlpool ultimate care II washer problems Major Appliances - whirlpool ultimate care II washer problems Expert: Eric Campion - 1/14/2008 Question Hi, My washer is 1 year 6 days old - just out of warranty - my luck. Or when it is spinning and you lift the lid. What can this be? Ads By Google Related Models |
