Whirlpool top loading direct drive washer agitates well during wash and rinse cycles, and also drains well, but during spin cycle the agitator runs too and spin is very weak. Clothes get wrapped around agitator during spin cycle. I'm thinking this has something to do with the shift actuator in gearbox, but is there someplace simpler I should be looking first?

Thanks!

The obvious repair turned out to be to replace the gearcase, but since I had some time on my hands this weekend I removed the old gearcase and opened it up. I found a broken agitate cam, #14 in this diagram.

I'll be ordering a new one from Appliance Parts Pros today, along with a new motor coupling since I found a broken prong on the old one during disassembly.

If anyone knows of any gotchas I should be aware of, please let me know.

Thanks APP for all the handy reference materials.

So, if I were to put new oil in the gearcase now that it's open, what should I use?
