Hello I am diy guy. I have replaced the coupler (cracked). Now it is making a schtick "click" sound at each agitation. Each time it dims the lights in the house. I replaced the dogs, and the motor switch. Still same noise "click click" lights dimming... any ideas? All other functions are great, spin, drain etc...

Take off the motor and make sure you did not jam the new coupler to far into the transmission. Can't think of much else unless your motor is failing for some reason.

thanks, the coupler was replaced a month ago. The noise is new. Also I can see underneath that the motor is spinning freely. I will try to take it apart though, was not a big job.

Pull the motor and turn the tranny coupler counterclockwise. If it seems to jam, you have a bad tranny. Just pull it out to confirm.

Ok I took the motor off and turned the tranny counterclockwise, no binding just spinning. I also popped off the couple on the tranny and spun, even turning. It did not spin freely I had to use light effort but it was an even effort. I will run a test load in the morning. That damn clicking drives me nuts and I am not willing to risk it before bed! Oh I also spun the tranny clockwise. it turned freely for a while then I heard a clunk, it did not turn after that.

If it "clunked" while turning the tranny coupler clockwise, the tranny is jamming in spin. Again, when you turn the tranny shaft with the coupler attached clockwise, the clutch housing should spin, counterclockwise the spindle should agitate.

so it is jamming and overloading the motor which dims the lights makes sense. Thanks so much for your help Rich. It seems to be during agitation but if the tranny should spin freely both directions I am sold on a tranny rebuild? Does anyone do this? Is it hard to do? Are their tranny junkyards? No tranny rebuilds that I know of. They sell spin parts like the nylon and pinion gear though. Rather rare a tranny goes bad. I have only seen a few go. If you live near State College, Pa I could sell you a used one. You might try a repair person in your area.

Hey just on case anyone else has this problem it is the timer . Replaced timer all was fine. 107 bucks from sears
