Default washer not spinning
Model Number: lsq9244eq0   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 5 - 10 years

Thanks in advance for all advice.......

This is on "Normal cycle"

The washer will go through the cycles fine but when it get to draining it'll drain without spinning and won't spin in the final spin cycle. It will spin if I catch it in time and open/close the lid. It seems to reset itself. I also can get it to spin if I manually push the knob in and turn it to spin and pull out the knob.

I am thinking the timer but it is $100 and would like a second opinion before I just replace parts.

I agree with misterfixall. Most likely the problem is a bad timer.

- The part number for the timer is AP3019781

Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool washer Model LSQ9244EQ0

The timer did not work. Same problem

Basically it works fine but I have to be there when I wash. When the soapy water drains and the rinse water drains I need to lift the lid and close it to reset it. Then it will spin otherwise it will not. Any other suggestions? Other than that everything is fine.......

you are describing a lid switch problem. but in one of your previous letters you said it was draining, are you sure about that? because as far as i know this model cannot drain or spin if lid switch is defective, we only have your word to go by, so please recheck, thanks

It drains fine and I still wash clothes in it. I just have to be paying attention to it. As soon as I hear it draining I open it and it is not spinning. When I close it I can hear the tub start spinning. Sometimes I put something in the lid switch and watch it to make sure it's at full speed, which it is.

If it is the lid switch, do I have to take the cabinet off?

Thanks.

Due to your washer has a neutral drain transmission, it should stop for a few seconds during the drain to engage the spin. This stop interval operates by timer, that's why the timer has to be replaced.
