washer works good other than when it goes into spin cycle, it spins for a second then stops does it several times but never spins for more than 3-5 seconds, pump works fine and pumps water out at a good rate. any suggestions????

Take off the front and take off the belt and put it in spin mode and determine if the motor is stopping in spin cycle.

If it is, the problem could be in the timer, but check the wiring between the motor and the timer and the connections at the motor and at the timer.

If the motor is turning the problem can be the clutch, so see if it is slipping. If not, the problem is likely inside the transmission where the brakes are.
