Amana washer won't agitate

Model Number: LW3503W Brand: Amana Age: More than 10 years

My Amana washer suddenly quit agitating. Spin works fine.

When the agitator should start, I hear a hum for about 5 seconds and then it stops. If you wait a short while, the hum starts again for about 5 seconds. Sounds like it is trying to initiate the agitator, but the motor does not run.

Motor runs fine for spin mode.

This washer is in our vacation home and is used only about 20 weekends per year.
