Wife called me in about a smell in the washer. Does have a burning smell towards the end of the cycle. Smelled around the bottom front of the washer where the motor is and seems to be coming from that area. Does this sound like a motor going bad and is this too hard of a replacement for a pretty good handyman.

I once saw the cabinet shell (front and both sides) off of this washer. TO take it off, I unscrewed and lifted up the control panel, now is the clips that hold on the lid and top which comes off before the shell can come off? Thanks for any help. Did just have the coupling replaced a few weeks back.

Are you sayung that something could be causing the coupler to smell like smoke?

Who replaced the coupling - you or someone else? If you - how did you do it? If the new coupling was installed improperly, it could overload the motor.

Actually had a pro repair man do the job. Guys pretty good, about 20 years in the business. He was actually there to replace the thrermo fuse in the dryer and when I moved the washer, I saw small bits of rubber dust, he knew just what it was and I had him give the washer a good once over and he did the coupler.

Remove the washer cabinet and run it. Check if the motor getting hot. Post your findings.
