This washer will drain, but won't spin unless you raise and lower the lid while in the drain or spin cycle. If you start it in the spin cycle it will work fine. Sometimes it will work fine in the second rinse cycles or permanent press cycle, but not always. Thanks for your help.

The timer must interrupt power briefly during the spin cycle to allow the clutch in the tranny to engage spin. If the timer will not do that, you need a new timer.Check your model #, you will need it to order parts.

I had a sinking suspicion that was the problem, but wanted to be sure in case there might be something else wrong.
