Spin motor works ok but the wash motor trips out at 27amps and there is no movement with the agitation. Does the motor turn in two directions, oue wash and another for spin? is it likely that the transmition needs replaced? thanks for the advice!

Jim,

Remove the washer cabinet, remove the pump and the motor.

Check if the motor will work while the control calls for the agitation and would not heat up. If you can, check for amps drawn. If it's not working properly and/or heats up then the motor is bad.

If there is nothing wrong with the motor - try to move the transmission shaft in both directions.

Post your findings.

Gene.

Gene,
sorry for taking so long to get back I have not been able to get back to the appliance, but can tell you that the motor works in the spin mode. With my amprobe I haad 27amps when power was applied to the agitat motor leeds. The drain pump works when the machine spins The agitator seemed to move freely when I turned it by hand with the machine off. It seems like there is something binding the motor in the agitate only. I am still trying to get back to see the machine. Thanks Jim

Gene,
I removed the motor and it would not run untill I turned it by hand. Is there a start capacitor on the motor or are the start windings out? Motor works on Spin ok. I will be replacing the motor. thanks for your help.

Hi Jim,

Looks like the motor gone bad.

- The part number for the motor is AP4108781
