I have a top loader Maytag model # MAVT754EWW that had been overflowing. Was unable to stop the water flow with unplugging the power cord or depressing the off switch. Took the top washer apart and was able to stop the flow of water while blowing air into the tube connecting the tub and position switch. I assume the problem was with the water inlet valve, which I replaced. So far the washer seems to be working okay. If the washer starts to overflow again, have I missed another source for the problem?

Sounds to me that you have found the cause. Other things that can cause this are: Cracks/holes in the pressure tube Pressure tube not sealing correctly at the level switch A plug at the pressure tube in the tub. |
