Machine made whining noise .... and then a deeper whining noise ... couldn't figure out if was belts, bearing .... brakes ... researched it all .... turns out it was a SOCK ... stuck between the tub and body very hard to see.

Check basics first ... are the belts turning. Is there a smell. Is there anything BLOCKING THE TUB FROM TURNING .... if it fills and drains its not a water blockage or pump problem. If the motor turns ... it's probably not a motor problem. Are your belts turning and if so are they turning the transmission via the pulley if not .... there's your clue. Always check belts first AFTER you check to see if ANYTHING IS JAMMING THE TUB ... like a sock or t shirt or???
