Model Number: 417.43042200 Brand: Kenmore Age: 1 - 5 years
My 4 1/2 year old front loader has a problem during spin making loud noises, the bearing has dented the rear cover too. I expect to replace the bearing...etc (rear plastic shell). I've removed the entire plastic shell from the machine and opened that up however can someone tell me how to remove (seperate) the stainless steel tub from the rear plastic shell? The problem is definitely in the rear plastic shell since I can hear noise when I spin the tub.

Thanks for the manual. The outer tub is already removed from the machine, the issue causing the biggest grief here was removing the stainless steel basket from the rear outer plastic shell. After being nice it was necessary to use some extra force, once it came apart the problem was easily seen. The steel shaft is connected to the stainless steel basket by a spider assembly bolted to the basket.
The failure is a broken spider assembly and also the rear outer shell is scored from screws on the basket hitting the outer shell. To repair this unit it'll need a new rear outer shell and a new basket (which comes with the spider assembly). |

Yep, one can almost diagnose that problem with these models without ever even hearing what is wrong. It is a major failure with them.
Good luck with your repair, sounds like you have it under control.
