GE Washer Agitator won't spin

The washer fills and empties fine, the spin cycle works fine, but during the wash cycle, the agitator does not turn. I can hear the motor running, and the agitator can be moved by hand. Any ideas?

If the agitator will spin freely by hand the agitator os worn and will need replaced
