Take off the front and observe the motor while in agitation mode with the belt off. You need to see if the motor is turning, which I suspect it is not, in which case the timer may be your problem If the motor is turning but the transmission will not turn clockwise then the transmission probably is the problem.
Unfortunately in either case you may need parts, but let's see what we can tell from your further observation.
Where is Cabo San Lucas?

Thanks for the info. I've checked and the motor works but only in one direction for the spin mode, but won't reverse for the agitaion mode. Maybe timer or relay if there is one? Cabo San Lucas is at the southern tip of the baja should check it out sometime.

Probably the timer, but before you buy anything take the connection off at both the motor and the timer and clean the contact with contact cleaner if you can get it, alcohol if you cannot and reseat everything.
Just might work!
Curious. How does one get to where you are and what do you do there?

Found the problem! It was bad trans. the motor was reversing ok but trans. stoped working in agitate mode. Problem happened most likely because when it was put in two years ago they never removed the bolt from shipping that locked the drum in place putting large amount of stress on trans. Cabo is one thousand miles south of San Deigo.
