Default GE belt replacement for WSM2700TCWWB (washer/dryer combo)
Model Number: WSM2700TCWWV   Brand: GE   Age: More than 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

Hi all,

I have a GE Spacemaker Washer/Dryer combo unit (model #WSM2700TCWWB) ... it's somewhat old, as it came with our place - I think it's from 1997 or so.

While doing a load of laundry tonight, the drum stopped agitating or spinning. The water will still fill and drain, so the pumps are working; I hear a noise when the drum attempts to spin, so it sounds like the motor may still be working, so I suspect the problem is either with the belt or the clutch.

However... I can't figure out how to open this darn thing. I don't know if it opens from the front, the top, the back, etc. It's a stacked combo unit so getting it out of the laundry closet might be a problem, but I need to know how to open it first so I know if I even need to move it.

If this is a belt or clutch problem, hopefully the repair would still be cheaper than buying a new stacked set.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well, as life would have it GE did not make a stacked washer/dryer like yours, but they wanted to sell some. So they cut a deal with Frigidaire to have Frigidaire make a bunch and put the GE logo on it.

Anyway, here is the Frigidaire service manual which will show you how to get into it. You may have a broken belt, or they may be something stuck between the basket and the tub, or or you may have lost the electrical connection between your timer and the motor (clean the contacts and reconnect) or your transmission may have failed. This last thing is something you can check by turning the pulley.

Thanks for the link; I discovered the screws on the bottom of the front panel and managed to pull it off. The belt was broken (quite clearly), but the motor wheel still turns, and when I manually pulled the belt through the pulley, the tub turned, so I think it will be a simple fix of just replacing the belt.

Hopefully, that will be pretty easy... it looks fairly simple. Now, I just have to order one. Too bad I can't find it for less than $45 with tax and shipping...

I'll let you know if I run into problems once I get the belt. Thanks!

Those of us who reply on this Forum are volunteers and are not associated with APP, so I cannot tell you anything definite about parts except that GE parts are far more expensive then they have to be.

It may be that the Frigidaire brand belt for your machine will do, here is the part and it is much less expensive.

Part number: AP3867042

Part number: AP3867042

Call APP and see if they can confirm this part is the same or if they will take it back if it does not work; if they will not, check with your local appliance parts supplier.

I'm really late in replying but I just wanted to update and let you know that the Frigidaire belt you recommended above worked wonderfully... I ordered it from APP, received it within only a few days, and replaced it that same day. The washer has been working wonderfully ever since, and for under $20, it was the cheapest possible repair!

Thanks again for your help!

Another question... we likely need to replace one of the vanes in the dryer drum. The "GE" part is out of stock, and there are so many Frigidaire models, I can't really tell which one should fit...

Do you happen to know which Frigidaire part(s) would be an equivalent fit?

Thanks!!
