My Whirlpool washer started making a grinding noise when in the agitation cycle. So I replaced the dog ears in the agitator and now it doesn't do it as much but it still does it. Now I can see that the agitator is moving back and forth properly but the tub doesn't. If I manually grab the top of the tub and spin it a little sometimes the grinding will stop and the tub will move in agitation properly.

Remove the agitator, 7/16 bolt under the dispenser. Check the drive block nut, probably loose. You will need the special spanner wrench to tighten it.
