spin cycle makes grinding noise, no spin
Model Number: WLE4000B Brand: GE Age: 1 - 5 years
The washer makes a grinding noise on spin cycle and doesn't spin.
The transmission/clutch do not move down. The belt wants to move but doesn't Ads By Google Related Models

I am not sure I know what you mean about the transmission and clutch not moving down, but if the motor is trying to turn, and if it turns when the belt is off I think the problem is your brakes which are inside the transmission assembly.
Unfortunately, they are not a separate repairable item. Here is the part Part number: AP2046402 if you want to try it, but you may also want to consider replacement.
