whirlpool duet latch broken

Model Number: ghw911lw Brand: Whirlpool Age: 1 - 5 years

My daughter forced the door open when machine locked. broke handle-replaced easily. appears the latch is broken. Can I replace it myself or need a repair person. I am strapped for money, so simple would be good.
