Model Number: WPSQ4160T2WW Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
I've had this washer for a long time and ran without a problem. Today, on the last cycle the washer blew the fuse on the panel. I opened the fron panel to check what;s going on and I see nothing out of the ordinary. Plugged back in and when I turned the on the machine, the fuse flew violently. I could smell some smoke

Sounds like there's a dead short somewhere in the system. Start at the power cord. With your meter, see if there's continuity between the hot and neutral blades of the plug; then if there's any continuity between either of the blades, and the gtound pin. Post your results.
