Question Washer spins instead of agitate
Model Number: ALW880QAW   Brand: Amana   Age: 5 - 10 years

My Amana washer started leaking from underneath. Through the bottom front inspection cover I discovered no leaking fittings, but that water was dripping down during the wash cycle from splashing over the tub. Lowering the load size(water level) stopped that. I have since noticed that during the wash cycle, the agitator does not ratchet back and forth but rather the entire tub spins as during a spin cycle. This causes the water level to move outward and splash over the tub. Upon moving the washer to further investigate, I not only discovered how difficult it will be to access any internal parts but also I found 4 bolts on the floor under the center of the washer. Do you think these 4 bolts falling out are the source of my problem? If so, what part of the washer do I disassemble to access the internals?
