I have an older maytag neptune washer with a dial timer. when wash cycle is complete timer shows off but machine continues to tumble and wont stop. If you unplug machine and wait a few minutes door will unlock and you can reload and start another wash. When that load is done it again continues to tumble.
Thanks

Well, this is one of the more troubled models ever built, and it is difficult to diagnose your problem as you could be looking at problems with the timer, machine control unit or motor control unit. I suspect the motor control is your problem, and Maytag has revised the motor control unit and now you buy and install a new motor/motor control package. Here is the service manual, with info about your model towards the end. Note that there are difference based on series, and the first two digits of your serial number should designate your series. See if you can do some trouble shooting http://www.servicematters.com/m...ibrary/docs/16010061.pdfand if nothing definite comes up you may want to consider replacing the motor/motor control. Here is the tech bulletin on it. http://www.servicematters.com/m...rary/docs/TDL-0018-B.pdfThis is a good machine when it works, but it has been nothing but trouble and given the time you have gotten out of it you may want to consider replacing it rather than spending money on parts which may not fix it, or which will prolong its life very little.
