My older Inglis washer continuously fills and overflows water unless the timer cycle is manually moved to wash, than it stops filling. The timer works normally through the cycles, but does the same during the water filling in rinse. The problem just happened all of a sudden, with the washer working fine one day and than overfilling the next day.

I found a parts manual on inglisparts,ca and replaced the pressure switch hose. This goes from the bottom of the drum to the water level switch on the console. This switch has two settings small and large fill. This did not fix the problem.
What else can be the cause of the overfilling? Is there a procedure to diagnose the parts to find which is faulty?

Could not find info on the given Model Number but it should not matter here.

Hopefully you still have the old pressure hose.
Unplug the unit, open up the console and attach the old pressure hose to the water level switch.
Check to be sure no wires have come off or are shorting to the frame.
Plug the unit in and start a fill.
Blow into the pressure tube you should be able to stop the water flow without blowing too hard.
If it will not stop the level switch is toast.

If it does stop blow into the tube going to the bottom of the tub, could be it is plugged at the tub end.

denman; thanks for the reply. guess I should have checked out the previous posts first. will let you know the results of tests. One questions comes to mind, when blowing back to the tube should the air come out in the tube?

I am assuming the above is a typo and the last tube should be tub.
Yes air should come out inside the tub whwn checking/clearing a plugged tube.

yup my typo on the tube and tub.
your guidance has helped out and determined there is no blockage in the tub and the selector switch works when pressure is applied. the replacement hose I bought was not the original as this would take two or more weeks to arrive (age of machine syndrome). the 'new' hose was replaced with a closer match i/d to the original and wallla it works.
