Thanks to this forum I replaced the snubber ring on my washer, I did not need any special tools and job only took me a hour. All the posts about loosening the 6 hex bolts say thay should be under like 200lbs of pressure and to be really carefull but mine were NOT under any pressure at all, as a matter a fact I could have taken them all out and lifted the plate up. I didn't remove the drive pulley so is this why there was no spring pressure? also how tight do you make those hex bolts after putting in new snubber ring?
Anyway the new snubber did take care of my washer beating itself to death but still squeaks loudly when spin cycle stops.

You can try sprinkling some corn starch on the snubber ring, just tilt the tub to expose the snubber.
