I am trying to install a new outer tub assy (bearings when bad, and thankfully I bought it last year before the price increase). My problem is that my old outer tub has the boss for the inertial unbalance switch adjacent to the side strut displacement switch (ie the switch that will make contact with the side cabinet wall in case of a great imbalance). The new Outer tub assy, with seal kit p/n AP3841622 which I bought at this site has the inertial unbalance switch boss moved to the top of the outer tub.
Questions:
1. Will the old switch be too sensitive in the new position or is this change done with that intent?
2. I was going to order a new wiring harness but could find no documentation as to what wiring harness is correct for the new location. Is there a new part number for a new wiring harness?
3. If I can't find the proper wiring harness, I was going to add a length of wire between the unbalance switch and the side switch. Has anyone done this and have some advice?
Thanks, Dennis

Hi Dennis,

Do not worry about the switch and the wires. The switch should work in the new position and you can add on to the existing wires.

Thanks Gene
My Maytag is a series 44, so I can assume that the boss was moved to the top on a later series?
