Default Maytag Washing Machine cycle doesn't advance
Model Number: LAT9605AAE   Brand: Maytag   Age: 5 - 10 years

Our Maytag washer has a brand new timer purchased from you and installed. The washer does not advance the cycle. The washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances, it will agitate forever. Also, when manually moved to spin cycle it will just spin forever. What else should I look at or replace ?? thanks Bruce

You have a plug in timer, impossible to miss-wire.If this is a new symptom, you probably have a bad timer.

I just received a new Maytag washer timer from you. It will not advance. It will fill, and then agitate or spin until I manually advance the timer.I know that my old timer was bad, it would stop completely during a cycle, until I gently pushed on the timer stem.I I have just read here on the repair forum of someone else having the same problem with a Maytag . Did I receive a bad timer? Can the timer be wired differently than my old one? The electrical pins that the timer motor connect to are in a different location on the new timer. do not know if that could be the problem.

I talked to a specialist at appliance parts pros this evening. There are two timers for the model Maytag washer that I have. I gave her the serial number and she said that I had the wrong timer for my machine. She told me how to return the first one, and they are sending me the one that I need. The specialist was very helpfull.
