My washer fills with water but does'nt wash. it will drain the water on the rinse cycle. could it need a new belt? Someone help! my e-mail is mieve36@aol.com

You need to take off the front cover and observe the machine trying to agitate and spin. You do this by inserting a screw driver in the gap between the top and the front to release clips, then pull the front cover off.

You want to see if the motor is turning, which I think it is since it is draining during agitate and spin. If it is, see if the belt is slipping (then you need belt or tension assembly, probably both) or if the transmission will not turn.
