I have a Kenmore model 417.41142000, bought 6/01, it made a really load noise as it tried to spin, I though it spinned, when the load was done I went to take the clothes out, they were soaking wet, put it on spin and noticed it just tumbled, didn't go into spin cycle, I checked the dispenser and the softner was still there, this told me it didn't even go into rinse mode, so it isn't going into spin cycle either, what can I do, if anything, is there a part that I can order to fix this? Help needed... I tried several times and it just won't spin, there is water left in the tub, I tried on all three cycles, it just tumbles as washing...

Start by taking off the front service panel and then cleaning everything out of the pump and drain hoses to and from the pump.

I have the front service panel off, so I just need to remove the hoses underneath, have you dealt with this before? When I put it in spin cycle it sounds like something is just humming and not doing anything, then I move the knob further, and it starts to just tumble.

Go ahead and clean things out, and then try it again. If that does not solve the problem see if there are tech notes inside that lower panel and put the machine through the trouble shooting it describes.

I took the large hose off that leads to the drum, a lot of water came out, I couldn't get the rest of the hoses off, do you recommend a way to take these off, they lead to some kind of gadit, is this the pump? I put my fingers down inside and I didn't feel any thing, objects of any kind, just water. I appreciate you help...

This service manual (your machine is a Frigidaire Gallery sold by Sears under the Kenmore brand) will show you how to take out the pump, and also give you tips on testing components.

If it is not a blockage, and not an electrical problem your tub bearing may be damaged and preventing the spinning.

I will, it may take me awhile to figure this out and be able to work on it, but I will let you know how it comes out, I have a lot going on besides this; school, work, etc.

Sidfink43,

I did some checking with my washer, it seems like it is either a defective timer or board, do you know how much a defective timer would be?
