Model Number: LSQ9500LQ0 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
Our Whirlpool washer motor started making a weird sound like the motor is overloaded. The tub does not drain at all after a rinse and when it goes to spin out it spins very very slow for just a couple revolutions before coming to a halt.
I hesitate to spend $130+ on labor plus additional for parts (drive motor, gearcase, water pump, who knows) when the washer only cost $350 6 years ago. I am not a mechanic, but fairly handy. Can anyone give me a place to start to see if I can do a home repair. Thanks Related Models |

If you are lucky the problem is something jammed in the pump, or the pump itself which is an inexpensive and easy repair.
This video will show you how to take off the cabinet to get to the pump. Even if you do not find anything in the pump, after you take it off by pass the lid switch by inserting a solid insulated wire into the two outer holes n the plastic connector coming from the console and turn the time to spin, and see if the motor engages. If it does, replace the pump. YouTube - Direct Drive Washing Machine Repair Video Tutorial *Watch in HIGH Quality!* Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

Another case of Find the Missing Baby Sock has been resolved! Found the sock in the water pump suction and it locked up the drive motor. I removed the sock and thankfully the motor was not burnt up. The washer works great again and I was able to avoid calling in the repairman. Thanks for the reply! The YouTube video was EXTREMELY helpful and made this less than an hour repair. Thank you, thank you!
