Hey all,
My washer has decided to get finicky on me. It won't agitate during the wash cycle. The spin cycle seems to be working alright, but no agitation.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dave

The agitator coupling may be striped out. Try to turn the agitator by hand. It shouldn’t turn easily and if it does the agitator coupling is stripped out. To access the agitator coupling simply pull the agitator off and the coupling is right under it. Hope this helps!! Clothes Washer Repair Guide

Default one of the ways to fix the agitator

To fix the agitator, you pop the top lid of the agitator and in the inside there's a plastic cover pull it out. You are going to need a 9/16" or 5/8" socket. Once its out pull the whole agitator out, you are going to see some plastic parts that look like teeth. Turn the part upside down to take them out, you should see if the teeth have any ripples if they don't that might be the problem. I just fixed my washer that had the same problem. Hope I was of some help.

Delphino

That is exactly how you repair a Whirlpool washer agitator but this thread is about a GE washer!

Default Got it!

Got it fixed! It was the coupler "bell" I think it was called. The teeth on the inside of it were just about worn smooth.
Thanks everyone for your input.
Dave
