Washing cloths when it just stopped and no water would drain out. You can advance the control ahead and get more water but never will it drain or spin. You can hear a clicking like a timer but nothing happens. Is this the timer that went out? Thank you for any help in troubleshooting

Sounds more like the lid switch failed. Here is the part

Part number: AP3100003
Part number: AP3100003

and here is a site that will show you how to open the machine and by pass the switch to check it.

No it isn't the door switch as I have that taken out of the system and the wires spliced together to check if that was it. Still nothing. Could it be the coupling on the motor. I can hear the ticking of the timer but can't hear the motor run unless it is quite with out the coupling on it.

I do not think the problem is your motor coupling, since the machine will not drain, and if the coupling were broken your washer would drain out the water.

I suspect the problem is in the motor or motor switch but you will need to test and see if you are getting current to the motor when the machine is supposed to be operating. If so, the problem is the motor or the motor switch, if not the problem is in the timer or the wiring.

doesn't the motor turn the pump to drain the tub? If the coupling were bad the motor could turn but not turn the pump or the gearbox. Just wondering. Thank you for your reply

Yes, the motor turns the pump but with a shaft that comes out of the other side of the motor. So if the coupling is broken the gears will not turn but the other shaft of the motor will turn the pump.

Take it apart and you will see how things work. This video will show you how.

Very good video. Thank you. Yes you are right about the coupling being on the other side of the pump but my machine does not drain or spin or agitate. All I can get it to do is add more water at certain points on the controller. I can hear a clicking like the timer is clicking. Any other guesses?

As we said, because it is not draining the motor is not operating and you need to determine if current is getting to the motor. If it is, the problem is in the motor or the switch, if not it is in the timer or wiring.

First though, check you main power supply and make sure current is coming into the machine and getting to the timer.
