LG New bearings failing after 1 month
Model Number: WM2277HW Brand:
5 - 10 years
I have an LG TROMM WM2277HW washing machine that suffered a drum bearing issue a little over a month ago. During the high-speed spin cycle it sounded like a freight train running through the basement. A little research indicated this was a problem with the drum bearings, so I replaced them. Both the inner and outer bearings and the seal were replaced with new parts.
For the first two weeks after the repair, the machine was whisper quiet, like when it was new. We started noticing it getting louder however, and now, just over a month after the repair, it again sounds like a freight train.
There is no "wobble" in the drum, so I don't think the shaft is bent. If I roll the drum by hand, I can feel no resistance or "bumpiness" from the bearings.
I just ordered another set of bearings and another seal, and will replace them again next weekend. Before I dive in again, I'm anxious to hear some thoughts on what went wrong. Did I do something wrong when I installed the new bearings? Did I get defective bearings? Is there something else failing in the machine?
