the suspect: whirlpool ultimate care II washer.
I replaced the clutch and reassembled the machine. when I ran it through its paces everything seemed fine...until the spin. it sounded like the drum was filled with cats and bricks: loud, banging, painful. it seems like the agitator is off its rocker, but I can't see what might be loose.
