Fill valve cycles on and off causing hammering in pipes
Model Number: WTW5700SW0 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
When you start a cycle the water fill valve opens and closes repeatedly at about one second interval. On off on off, etc. Eventually the machine fills to the correct level and runs normally.
This caused hammering in the pipes so I put hammer arrestors on the hoses into the washer.
replaced the water fill valve, same problem, even slightly worse.
Checked fill switch, it is functioning normally
Tried bypassing lid switch, no effect.
Changing the temp select switch does route the power for hot or cold or both but then just the one solenoid goes on and off.
Running out of ideas and don't want to keep buying parts just to try and see if it works. Anyone seen this before? I have never.
See inside of your appliance - diagrams and part photos for virtually every model.
