Whirlpool Direct Drive Top Load Washer Won't Spin Up
Model Number: LSQ9244EZ0 Brand:
More than 10 years
We have a Whirlpool direct drive top load washer that will not spin up when loaded. The washer most times agitates just fine then goes to the spin cycle and all we hear is the motor trying to come up to speed, but won't spin up. If the machine is left to sit for awhile or we move the control knob to another spin setting it will sometimes engage.
The agitator cycle and spin cycles (on all settings on the timer control) runs fine if the washer is empty, i.e., the spin cycle engages and comes fully up to speed.
I've tested the lid switch, the timer control for continuity, and all is fine. I've replaced the motor/transmission coupling and the clutch in the past week. The water pump is new and is not blocked by debris.
What is causing this? This is a 16 year old washer and it may not be worth going on more of an "Easter Egg" hunt replacing parts, but if it is something simple, I might try to repair it.
