My washer goes through all the cycles O.K. but wont spin with a load of clothes. I can get it spinning if I help it a little byt it won't do it under load. My coupler looks fine. I think that it may be the clutch but how can I be sure without buying & installing a new one? How do you know when a clutch is bad?

Its pretty safe to say your clutch is bad ... Its a big job to replace the basket drive but it needs to be done.

I would not rush with the parts and would check the drive block (#15 on the diagram) first. You can find the instructions in one of our previous posts: not spinning

If the tabs on the spin tube and the notches on the drive block are not damaged, replace the clutch only.

Gene is right ... Its easy to assume without looking at the washer that the basket drive is bad but the drive block is also a very common problem.
