My washer would agitate, drain, and spin occasionally. If I heard it wasn't spinning I would lift the lid and close it. That typically fixed the problem. I read online it was most likely the timer. I purchased the timer through Appliance Parts Pros and replaced it. It doesn't happen as often, but occasionally will still not get to the spin cycle without lifting and closing the lid. If functioning properly, does a washer immediately begin to spin slowly as it drains? I appreciate your help.

It depends on the washer, but according to the parts diagram, yours drains the water, pauses, then comes back on and spins.

Its called the neutral drain gearcase.

Is your washer in a cool or warm room? This kind of washer needs to be in a room that is at least 70 degrees F. It also helps to do warm loads or hot.

Inside the gearcase is 50 weight oil. At lower temperatures the oil is very thick and can keep the washer from spinning.

It could also be a damaged spin gear or spin pawl.
