As the title states my washer does not spin out the clothes although it sounds like it is. At first when I found it wasn't doing it, I could reach in and turn the drum counter clockwise about a quarter turn then reset the timer to high spin and it would then spin it. Of course it is slowly getting worse. Does this sound like the clutch? It does agitate in wash mode.
Thanks

If all the water is draining out, but its not spining, it could be the clutch is worn out.

It could be the gearcase is having problems internally. It could also be that the washer is too cold to work properly.

It needs to be 70 degrees or better for the washer to work right. The gearcase is full of 50 weight oil and its too thick at temps under 70. Running warm or hot loads helps warm up the gearcase.

The clutch is designed to slip until the basket is spun up to speed. I usually put the washer timer in the spin part of the cycle, open the lid and then use a pencil to depress the lid switch so I can watch it spin.

If it can't spin at all, I very carefully reach in and see if moving the basket helps. If it wants to spin but can barely move, it could be the clutch. Yhe clutch pads get worn down and don't make enough friction on the clutch drum to turn the basket.

If the washer kicks into spin and spins OK after opening the lid or depressing the switch it could be the spin pawl inside the gearcase is damaged and not "popping" out to catch the spin gear like it should. This is an internal problem of the gearcase, which requires replacement or repair of the gearcase.

Thank you for sending the parts so quickly! I ordered and changed the clutch and motor coupling to eliminate two of the easiest sources. It ended up being the clutch and now the unit spins like new.
