I have a Whirlpool washer that won't start. The console has a row of lights, the last light is for Lid Locked, it blinks on and off. Until a little while ago, we could get the machine to start by holding in the Reset button continuously for a minute or so, the red blinking light would disappear and we could press the start button to begin a wash cycle. Sometimes we would unplug the machine and plug it back in, that apparently reset something and turned off the light and allowed us to start. Now it blinks continuously and we cannot get any response. Sometimes when I hold the Reset button in continuously, the machine buzzes and the lid locks, just for a second, then the buzz stops and the lid unlocks, and the blinking restarts.
Repairman came out and tried it, after some fiddling he thinks the control board needs replacement, recommended we buy another machine.
Checked Whirlpool site, new control board is $350.
This model has a control console part number W10251314, I see new ones for sale (WPW10251314) for $150, was wondering if this part also contains a new control board, and if I could just replace the entire console

Its a shame, when it works the machine is fine

I'm not familiar with these washers, but $332 for a board seems like a lot. I'd buy a cheaper, less complicated washer. Just saying.
