While loading the machine, today, I noticed a brown discoloration on the operator control panel, directly under the HEAVY DUTY words. That spot and all around it was very alarmingly warm. When I pressed/touched the main power 'button', the machine did not respond - seems dead. Now it is unplugged awaiting a diagnosis. There are no repair people within 100 miles. Can anyone suggest a diagnosis?

This is 3 yr old washer, bought new and used only once per wk by me only. I paid nearly $1000 for it, expecting the best.
