My Maytag Centennial washer will not spin it acts like it's on the spin cycle but won't do anything doesn't make a noise, everything else works on it but what I have noticed is during the start of the cycle the automatic lock will engage then disengage then engage then disengage and so on and so forth and then it just stays disengaged through the rest of the wash cycle could this be the reason that the washer won't spin because it might be a safety feature? I have found a lock mechanism for about $60 but I don't want to spend the money if it's not the problem.
