My washer just quit working. The agitator doesn't turn, the tub doesn't spin and it makes a slight whirring noise. The water does pump out. Do you think the problem is in the gear case or might it be the clutch? If it is going to be too involved or expensive I think it would be better to replace the washer. I put a water pump and replaced the agitator dogs on it about a year or so ago and it has been working fine till now. No warning, it worked fine on one load and then died on the next.
