Kenmore top loading HE washer noisy - intermittent.

Kenmore top loading HE washer, belt drive; model 110 2800211; new 2011-07; used by two adults. Covered by protection plan thru this July. This is second washer since 2006. I wish to understand them.
Is this also called the vertical modular washer?

PROBLEM - Makes rubbing sound during agitate. Perhaps rubber or plastic against metal. More pronounced one direction than the other. seems to match this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7J_0qU77GE

Looked underneath. Removed sound deadening pad. Discovered tub shaft pulley (big one under the center of the tub) has rubbed semicircular cut in pulley shield; also in the sound deadening pad underneath that. Closed it up, without sound pad. Tested again - no unusual sound. I pulled up video I made of my problem and listened; yup it was noisy. Definitely visible broken part and visible layer of white plastic power residue on drive train.

Have opened trouble ticket with Sears. Expect them Friday. Hopefully covered by warranty.

Researched problem on www, found Tech Guide in machine - pulled codes. F7/E5 (shifter fault); F8/E1 (long fill) by fault. neglected to turn on water after tipping over to look under.

Ran auto test - all looked ok - except - step 11 - shifter - takes 5 min to complete. (vs 5-15 sec normal est. time). Auto Test - test runs to completion. get end of cycle tone and light.

ok; so will let sears repair do their thing. hope (demand?) they replace belt and shield. Also address shifter fault. e.g. Run appropriate test #3a Drive system - shifter; replace shifter.

looked under again. removed pulley shield. pulley nut seems tight. belt is a little frayed on edges. quick look at splutch no gross visible damage. put it all back. waiting for sears.

Question. What should I expect? My protection plan ends in 5 months. Do not want something missed to come bak and bite me in 6 months.
