I have a washer that goes out of balance during spin and displays a "dC" error. When I press down on the tub corner it bounces several times. Does that mean that I need new suspension rods?

The part number indicated is DC97-16350C. I have seen similar parts with a different letter on the end besides a "C". are they interchangeable, or are they model specific?
