Default washer drains while agitating
Model Number: LDA 580   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: More than 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
Hello All,

I have an '80's era whirlpool belt-drive washer that has served my family well for many years. I have, over the past twenty-something years, replaced the pump on a couple of occasions, the wig-wag, fill solenoid, and most recently the drive motor.

The other day the washer began to do something it has never done before. It fills normally, but when the wash cycle begins (agitate) the washer drains at the same time. When the water gets low enough, the washer stops agitating and refills. It then begins to agitate and drain again. It will do this throughout the wash cycle, which obviously is a big problem. Any thoughts?

Model number is LDA 580.

Many thanks!
Kevin

I would look for a lint clog jamming the pump. These are still available 350365

Thanks Rich,

Turned out that the "flapper" gadget inside the pump had snapped off, so the pump was pushing water to drain when washing, instead of recirculating water through the lint screen. Swapped out the pump and she's good to go!

Many thanks!
Kevin
