We have a 2013 ish Whirlpool Duet that will drip soap from the dispenser into the drum between cycles. We like to leave the door ajar while it drys, then the soap drip will catch the inside of the door, and dribble down onto the floor. If the door is closed it will drip into the gasket and just wash out on the next cycle.

This model is equipped with the precision dispense system for soap.

It does this for a while, then it doesn't. Haven't found a common thread.

Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks.

Sounds like the soap dispenser valve is not opening all the way to allow the water to flush it out. Try removing the assembly and cleaning it out, and if that doesn't fix it you may have to replace the assembly.

Thanks -- I am fairly handy, is this something I should be able to do myself? I looked at the small nozzle where the soap enters the drum and I didn't see an obvious way to remove (seems to be part of the rubber gasket). Or is the valve accessed from the soap drawer area? I would like to do more research, but not if you think this is something I need to send to a service call.

If expensive, we will probably just let it keep dripping. A shame for a fairly new and top-of-the-line unit.

This should be something you can do yourself. Take off the top and see if there is an easy way to access everything. Whirlpool no longer makes their tech info available, but as an owner you may be able to get something. Call Whirlpool customer service and see if they can help. Also you can get an exploded view of your model by clicking on the model number.

Good luck
